Article Abstract
A patent foramen ovale (PFO) if a fairly common septal defect in the general population. Paradoxical embolization through a PFO is a known cause of stroke. Preprocedural recognition of a PFO in a patient undergoing particulate arterial emb olization can help reduce the risk of cerebral infarction.
